Youthful Demeanor as Liability
So I’m cruising through the USA Today’s Sports section at a manageable transwarp speed this morning, picking off nuggets off interest and stuffin’ ‘em somewhere in the back of my mind where they’ll likely die a coward’s death, when I notice this passage in a small article about Stephen Curry. For those who may not know Stephan Curry is a guard from Davidson College who just lit up the NCAA Basketball tournament. Here’s the passage:
He’s not big - Davidson lists the sophmore guard at 6-3, 185 - and possess a youthful demeanor. So some question wheather he can meet the NBA’s physical demands (emphasis added).
First of all, I’m no expert but I’ll throw down with anyone who suggests a youthful demeanor is a liability in the NBA. Second of all, I’m pretty sure a youth demeanor is not genetically linked to one’s physical constitution, or what’s with the non-sequitor dude? Why not just write the passage above this way:
He’s not big - Davidson lists the sophmore guard at 6-3, 185 - and he likes his french toast lathered in butter. So some question wheather he can meet the NBA’s physical demands (emphasis added).
The kids gotta bulk up for sure, and learn to play more on the ball, but let’s not knock him for enjoying the game cause what we really need are more salty pro athletes with a decided “old man with a rash on his balls” demeanor.
