Transcendent Far

She’s far away now but that means little,
a token of misbehaved mornings.
I have grow used to the idea.
Of us,
that expanding boulder lodged in my chest.
Yet more than growing accustomed.
Larger than exploring the shell studded shores.
More expansive than skipping stones.
I fashioned We on the cusp of your velvet teardrops.
My hair triggered pity succumbed to a nightmarish second of utter aloneness.
Now I have forgotten the Life without her.
Was it once happy?
As happy as a simple cup of coffee?
Do I recall the instances of personal pleasure, rounded by my devilish distance?
With you my coffee tastes as sweet.
My distance reduced to a pastoral creek.
Far away on an ocean of momentous thoughts,
where dream worn drifters congregate to scheme their next prudent step,
I have been freed.
She’s far away now.
Somewhere between an itch in my memory
and a faded picture.
A place where my memory collapses
and my salty fear dreams in the shade of a coconut tree.
