The Rich-Poor Divide in Pictures
A link to a photographic depiction of the economic, and sometimes literal, walls separating the rich from the poor. It’s heartbreaking, and not in a “the rich suck balls” way, or in a capitalism is evil way. It is simply heartbreaking, and if you don’t feel it then you don’t feel it. However, in the immortal words of Wooderson, “Be cooler if you did.” In many ways, in some of the most pressing and important ways, humanity has not evolved much beyond cracking open bones. We’ve invented electricity, indoor plumbing, and the computer, but have yet to nourish universal compassion and humility, or extend the ideal of family beyond our small, fractured tribes. We need not invent anything new. We need only live up to the ideals we already have.
