No One Likes A Limp Tool
I’m not one to ask for a lot. Not a needy guy here, but I have a request of Automattic and Matt Mullenweg. Let me first say, I have the upmost respect for the work and dedication the team pours into WordPress. With that said, the default WordPress post bookmarklet stinks. Please make a better one. I would myself if I was half as smart as you all. Alas, I am but a simple minded chap, and rely on the kindness of strangers when it comes to such matters.
It’s nice that a post bookmarklet exists. That’s a good call, but when stacked against, let’s say, the Tumblr bookmarklet, then it comes off as rather limp and impotent. No one likes packing a flaccid tool so it’d be great if at some point in the near future we could all get ours hands on a kick ass bookmarklet.
UPDATE (About Ten Minutes Later): Apparently I go stuck in the 18th century for a moment and forgot about a little site called Google. Seems Josh Kenzer had a similar thought, but, unlike me, he didn’t roll out a pathetic plea, he laid down a quick post plugin that does pretty much what I would hope the WordPress default bookmarklet would do. It’s inspired by Tumblr, and seems to do the trick. My request still stands however, and nice job Josh. You have my appreciation.
I’ve never even thought of using bookmarklets, but they could certainly be pretty useful for my blog. I’ll have to look into both the default option and this interesting-looking plugin. Thanks for pointing out both things to me.
No problem Dave. I tend to like bookmarklets. I’m a lazy fellow and they’re easy, but only if they got some umph behind them. I like that plugin I linked too though. Thanks for dropping in Dave.
Thanks for the compliment. I loved that feature of Tumblr but didn’t like the limitations Tumblr has in the name of simplicity. I hope it works well for you.
Josh, seems to be working out pretty well. I’ve used it on a number of occasions and it works fine and dandy. I do forget about it though, but this is due to old habits dying hard, not the plugin. Thanks again for the work.
