Just Asking: Sexism
Suppose a woman could answer this better than me, but what’s more sexist, the following point, this from senior McCain adviser Carly Fiorina,
“I am appalled by the Obama campaign’s attempts to belittle Governor Sarah Palin’s experience. The facts are that Sarah Palin has made more executive decisions as a Mayor and Governor than Barack Obama has made in his life. Because of Hillary Clinton’s historic run for the Presidency and the treatment she received, American women are more highly tuned than ever to recognize and decry sexism in all its forms. They will not tolerate sexist treatment of Governor Palin.”
Or insinuating that a woman should not be subjected to the same political tactics and posturing as a man. It should be noted that the McCain campaign has consistently “belittled” Obama’s experience so I’m not exactly sure what the hell she’s talking about. You can belittle a man’s experience, but if you do it to a woman it’s sexist? Wouldn’t this make attacks against Obama’s experience racist?
I don’t know. Just asking.
Well put!
Normally I like my comments to be of more substance, but that’s all I got after watching some lady I don’t know vomit her family story all over the national stage and then throw sticks at one of the few inspiring politicians (if not the only one) I’ve had the pleasure to vote for in my entire adult life.
Yeah, that speech was something else huh? I thought she did well for herself, and hammering an opponent is the name of the game, even if I don’t think it helps us, but what gets me is the following:
(1) I’m gonna poke you in the eye with mockery and cynicism, but now I’m gonna run away and no one can ask me substantive questions, or poke me cause it’s sexist and (2) don’t talk about my family… “hey, look at my great family.”
I don’t know. I’m all in for Obama, so I’m biased, but… I don’t know. Sometimes all I feel is a deep, abiding sadness when I watch politics play itself out.
